Die letzte CD der Leonid Kogan Edition von Brilliant: die Franck-Sonate mit dem State Academic Symphony Orchestra unter Pavel Kogan (1980), Schuberts Fantasie C-Dur (D 934) mit Samuel Alumian (1975) und dann zum Abschluss – darauf bin ich jetzt gespannt – Schumanns Fantasie C-Dur Op. 131 mit Andrei Mytnik (1953).

Aus dieser zweiten Original Jackets Collection von Horowitz – 2008 erschienen und RCA-Aufnahmen umfassend (die erste von 2001 enthielt Columbia-Aufnahmen) – hörte ich schon heute nachmittag die CD „Plays Schumann“, die sich im Cover der LP „The Horowitz Concerts“ versteckt. Da ist die dritte Sonate, das „Concerto Without Orchestra“ zu hören (auf der Plattenhülle vorn als „Sonata No. 5“, hinten als „Grand Sonata No. 3“ apostrophiert), dazu Auszüge aus der „Humoreske“ Op. 20 (auf der CD dann komplett zu hören, soweit ich das sagen kann), die Fantasiestücke Op. 111 und Nummern drei und vier der Nachtstücke Op. 23.
Jetzt läuft die letzte CD, „Horowitz in Recital“ ist die Hülle, die man gewählt hat, um Schumanns „Kinderszenen“ Op. 15 mit einzelnen Stücken von Liszt, Debussy, Fauré, Mendelssohn und Brahms, dem dritten Satz von Schumanns dritter Soinate Op. 14 (die Erstfassung des „Concert sans orchestre“, aka Variationen über ein Thema von Clara Wieck) und einem Strauss von Chopin-Stücken zu kombinieren.
Ich glaube, diese frühen (ca. 1950) Aufnahmen reichen für mich nicht an die späteren Columbia-Einspielungen heran, von denen ich ganz besonders die „Kreisleriana“ von 1969 schätze, aber auch die Kinderszenen (von 1962) gefallen mir in der Columbia-Version wohl eine Spur besser.
