Mein lieber Mann, das ist aber doch etwas anstrengend.
Für mich dokumentiert das Album den letztlich gescheiterten Versuch, ein Free-Jazz-Album mit einer Post-Bop-Rhythmus-Gruppe aufzunehmen. Jones und Tyner passen für mich da einfach nicht rein. Bin aber keine Experte für irgendeinen der Stile – aber das Album fließt für mich nicht gut zusammen. Da hat seine Frau viel geschlosserene offene Sachen gemacht.

Gibt es da eigentlich noch ähnliche Sachen? Ich nennen es mal eher langsamen, etwas zerfaserten Avantgarde-Jazz? So ein wenig wie Moto Grosso Feio von Shorter? Merci.

Do you believe in Rock n Roll?als erstes Mal Moncurs ebenfalls phantastisches „Some Other Stuff“ … die Alben von Moncur/McLean/Hutcherson unter der Leitung McLeans kennst Du? Sie sind insgesamt wohl etwas weniger speziell, aber „Destination … Out“ ist schon auch sehr toll und „One Step Beyond“ ebenfalls sehr gut (Morgan wirkt nur auf „Evolution“ mit).
Ansonsten … schwer zu sagen, „Speak No Evil“ vielleicht, aber das kennst Du wohl längst? Und klar ist es anders … „Etcetera“ ebenfalls von Shorter … Hutcherson Blue Note-Alben („Dialogue“, „Oblique“, „Happenings“, „Stick Up“) … das ist alles anders, ich denke es gibt am Ende nichts mit den zwei Moncur-Alben wirklich Vergleichbares.
