Jenkins, etwas weniger Timmons, und in noch geringerem Masse auch Clifford Jordan – phantastischer Ton hin oder her – sind bei mir irgendwie warm/kalt Leute. Doch dieses Album hat es in sich! Jenkins mag ich gewiss nirgendwo auch nur annähernd so gern, sein leicht säuerlicher Ton und der trocken-spröde und doch so runde von Clifford Jordan fügen sich wundervoll zusammen und die Rhythmusgruppe hinter Timmons ist schlichtweg umwerfend: Wilbur Ware und Dannie Richmond. In Sachen Hard Bop aus Chicago etwas vom Feinsten – und unverzeihlich, dass es in der Liste fehlt die einst für get happy!? zusammengestellt wurde – mea maxima culpa!
