Heute zum ersten und auch gleich zum zweiten Mal „Zodiac“ von Cecil Payne:
Grandios. Alle machen Freude, Wynton Kelly wird ergänzt durch Albert Heath und Wilbur Ware. Große getragene Linien, die sich Payne und Dorham zuspielen bzw. teilen, gibt es ebenso („Martin Luther King, Jr.“) wie groovende Scheunentanzmusik („Flying Fish“): Zum fliegenden Fisch stelle ich mir eine Bande konzentrierter Hippies vor; wahlweise, da mir das gerade angemessener scheint, kann man auch wunderbar gelassen mit dem Fuß wippen.
Für gleich, falls ich mir das Album nicht noch ein drittes Mal gönne, liegt bereit:
