Artie Shaw, 1938/39 – CD 1 & 2 der Mosaic-Box, danach:

Die RCA-Compilation (2 CD, aber eher kurz) und die Hindsight-Box (3 CD) sind von denselben Sessions ausgewählt, aber soweit ich sehe ohne Überschneidungen, wobei in der Hindsight-Box neben Aufnahmen „Blue Room“ des Lincoln Hotels in New York (Ende November 1938 bis Mitte Januar 1939) und jenen aus dem „Cafe Rouge“ des Hotel Pennsylvania in New York (Mitte Oktober bis Mitte November 1939) auch noch ein paar Stücke aus Ritz-Carlton in Boston zu finden sind, aufgenommen auf der Terrasse auf dem Dach am 19. August 1939.

„Traffic Jam“ öffnet erneut mit ein paar Stücken von einer der Sessions aus dem „Blue Room“, enthält dann aber v.a. 21 Stücke aus dem Old Gold „Melody and Madness Program“ – vom Februar und März in New York bzw. April und Mai 1939 in Los Angeles.

NENEH CHERRY & THE THING – The Cherry Thing von 2012

Ein Album, welches die Cherry Gemeinde gespalten hat, die Pop Fans konnten damit wohl nichts anfangen. Hier merkt man doch deutlich, welches Blut in ihr fließt. Nie war sie ihrem Vater DON CHERRY musikalisch näher, als hier. Der Free Jazz mit u.a. MATS GUSTAFFSSON, der ja auch nicht ganz unbekannt in der Scene ist, passt hier meiner Meinung nach perfekt zu Neneh’s Gesangsstil.

schleicht sich immer mehr an meine beiden mingus-favs heran(ah um, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady), was hier in what love zwischen mingus und dolphy abläuft ist schon phänomenal und auch ted cursons spiel ist umwerfend…

Weiter mit WEATHER REPORT – Live In Tokyo von 1972. Fängt direkt ungewöhnlich mit einem Schlagzeugsolo an. Die erste Seite (meiner Japan D’LP) klingt mehr nach Freejazz, als nach Jazzrock. Was aber auch danke der hervorragenden Aufnahme sehr interessant und spannend klingt.
