Danke für die Infos. Kommt aber trotz falscher Geschwindigkeit (ich nehme mal an, es ist hier zu schnell?)genug von der Qualität des Auftrittes rüber.
Die 11 zusätzlichen Stücke machen natürlichlich neugierig.

Ich weiss es nicht, ich habe nie verglichen – lernte die Aufnahme mit der abgebildeten Doppel-CD kennen, in die einzelne der CP Records-Box mochte ich bisher nie reinhören.

Gerade zum ersten Mal Coltranes „Meditations“. Es läuft „Compassion“ und hier erfreue ich mich seltenerweise mal an einem Basssolo. Wie Coltrane dann mit seinen ersten Tönen einsteigt, ist irgendwie typisch besonders. Fantastische Musik.

The Necks – Open

(2013)

Ein Vorstoß in das Niemandsland zwischen Jazz, Ambient, Minimal, Drone, Freie Improvisation, Meditationsmusik und ich-weiß-auch-nicht.

Aus dem – sehr positiven – review auf all about jazz: „Not many artists would respond favourably to a question on how they felt about audience members falling asleep in one of their performances. The Necks, however, are not like other bands—bass player Lloyd Swanton quipping in a recent interview that „I have no objection to audience members sleeping, as long as they don’t snore and wake up the person next to them!.“

Den ersten Durchlauf habe ich im fortschreitenden Dämmerzustand erlebt. Ich war dann aber enttäuscht, als die Platte nach knapp 70 Minuten vorbei war. Hätte auch gerne länger dauern können. Nachher noch mal anhören.
