Zum Abschluss des Jahres noch die ganz grosse Entdeckung aus den Tiefen der Tape-Archive … Harry Miller 1973 in London und 1976 in Chateauvallon, mit Louis Moholo, Mike Osborne sowie Nick Evans und Chris McGregor (1973) bzw. Mark Charig, Malcolm Griffitzs und Keith Tippett (1976).

Nein! Die Box wollte ich dann doch nicht. Habe mich hier etwas schlau gelesen – andere Quellen intensiv studiert – und habe (die Blue Note Platten hatte ich alle schon) mich auf 6 CDs erst mal beschränkt: Trust, Secrets, Head Hunter, Sextant und Man-Child, dazu habe ich mir noch die „Piano“ geholt. Am intensivsten – aus der Funk/Jazz Zeit habe ich nach einmaligem hören aller Alben die Man-Child in Erinnerung. Aber ich werde mir sie alle noch mal zu Gemüte führen.

In Südafrika war ich ja die letzten Tage auch immer wieder … Ronnie Beer, Harry Miller, Nick Moyake, Dudu Pukwana … faszinierend, was für eine tolle Musikszene sich in diesem blutenden Land entwickeln konnte. Das Exil hat allerdings viele der besten Musiker zu Grunde gerichtet: McGregor, Miller, Pukwana, Dyani … schön aber, dass Ibrahim und Moholo immer noch so aktiv sind!
Mein erster Impuls nach der Todesnachricht Mandelas, noch in der Nacht, war, „Standing Ovation (For Nelson Mandela)“ von Sclavis-Texier-Romano zu hören:
