muss selbst noch meine erfahrungen mit „the great 3“, BEGIN THE BEGUINE, nachtragen (kikuchi, peacock, togashi). die fantastische version von „my favorite things“ hat mich weihnachten ertragen lassen…--
ich bleibe beim Jazz – kam auch die Tage an, hatte schon geglaubt, das Reissue verpasst zu haben (meine erste Bestellung Anfnags des Jahres wurde gecancelt, erschienen ist das Reissue im November 2014):
aufgenommen 1975 in Woodstock mit Karl Berger (vib/p), Tom Schmidt (b), Jack DeJohnette bzw. auf einem der vier Stücke Jumma Santos (d) sowie Ingrid Sertso (voc) – weil Schmidt derjenige ist, der mir gar nichts sagt: http://www.creativemusicfoundation.org/tom-schimdt

great indeed. „my favorite things“ – impressionistisches klaviervorspiel, dann hängt alles in der luft. peacock und togashi finden ganz subtil in einen groove (ganz ohne bassdrum), während kikuchi die eckpunkt der möglichen improvisation absteckt, andeutet, dazwischen die luft zum klingen bringt. wie man aus standards extemporiert, ohne, wie jarretts trio, alles aufzufüllen. nur bei den nebengeräuschen ist es genau umgekehrt: jarrrett stöhnt in die lücken, kikuchi singt mit.

Mit alter Musik ins neue Jahr:
Johnny Hodges – Master Of Jazz (1960/61)
Eine von der Aufmachung billig wirkendes Album des dänischen Storyville Labels mit 6 Tracks einer 60er Studio-Session mit u.a. Ben Webster und einem sehr bluesig spielenden Herb Ellis (git.) und 4 Tracks einer vom Klang her etwas mauen 61er Live-Aufnahme aus Stockholm.
Aber die Musik hat Klasse! Die Live Aufnahme ist okay wenn auch nicht essentiell, aber die Studio-Aufnahme gehört zum lebendigsten und frischesten, was ich von Johnny Hodges kenne. So lässt sich das neue Jahr gut beginnen!
In diesem Sinne Euch allen – wie man bei uns sagt – : „Ein Jutes Neues!“
