Lohnen sich diese Aufnahmen von Han Bennink mit Hank Mobley?

Ich finde die CD ziemlich gut, aber da ich eh ein riesen Mobley-Fan bin, stellte sich auch die Frage nicht. Die grosse Offenbarung ist das jedenfalls nicht zu erwarten, aber ist halt schon ein interessanter Puzzle-Stein für Leute, die an Mobley interessiert sind.

paging @redbeansandricesehe ich auch aehnlich… das ist wirklich eine schoene CD mit guter Musik… und ist natuerlich nicht nur fuer Mobley Fans interessant, sondern auch fuer Han Bennink Fans, Wim Overgaauw Fans… aber wenn man jetzt einfach fragt: Wie viele und welche Mobley (oder Han Bennink) CDs muss ich besitzen, damit dass hier die naechtessentiellste ist, die ich logischerweise als naechstes kaufen muss, dann kommen zB ziemlich viele Blue Note CDs zuerst…
ich find ja diese Wes Montgomery / Bennink Videos klasse…
was die Tracklaengen betrifft: Frank Jochemsen, der sowohl die Mobley als auch jetzt die Rollins CD teilverantwortet hat, koennt man auch noch fragen…

.Danke, @alle. Dann werde ich die CD mal auf die Einkaufsliste setzten – vielleicht nicht ganz nach oben. Bei den Blue-Note-Aufnahmen bin ich zwar weit entfernt von Vollständigkeit, aber die sind ja inzwischen problemlos per Streaming verfügbar.
Rollins wird nach Aktenlage wohl ein Pflichtkauf.

GEORGE COLEMAN on REEL TO REAL for RSD BLACK FRIDAY!
I’m happy to announce that my archival jazz cohort Cory Weeds and I are back with another previously-unissued discovery coming for Record Store Day Black Friday (11/27)! The George Coleman Quintet „In Baltimore“ was captured live at the Famous Ballroom on May 23, 1971, presented by the Left Bank Jazz Society, and featured a stellar band with trumpeter Danny Moore, pianist Albert Dailey, bassist Larry Ridley and drummer Harold White. The limited-edition 180g LP includes an elaborate insert with beautiful photos by Francis Wolff, intros by Cory and I, a main overview essay by the great jazz historian/archivist (and producing mentor to me) Michael Cuscuna, plus interviews with „the Big G“ himself George Coleman, John Fowler from the Left Bank, and the self-described Colelman disciple, tenor man Eric Alexander. Audio restoration direct from the original tapes by Chris Gestrin, LP mastering by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, LLC, and pressed at Standard Vinyl in Toronto
It’s especially significant because it’s also the first known recording of George Coleman as a leader (a good six years before his first studio album as a leader from 1977). As Michael Cuscuna says, „This concert is a rare early glimpse at George Coleman in charge and, as always, playing magnificently.--

Black Friday, I’m beside myself with excitement to announce THE Bill Evans recording I get asked about the most – Bill Evans „Live at Ronnie Scott’s“ from July of 1968 with
Eddie Gomez
and
Jack DeJohnette
I’m proud to say this is the 5th official Bill Evans release in partnership with the Bill Evans Estate, and 3rd release with this particular trio. I’m especially thankful to share a producer credit on this release with master drummer/pianist/composer Jack DeJohnette. These tapes come from Jack’s personal archives. I had the good fortune to have made trips to Jack and Lydia’s home in Upstate New York (their godson Matthew Garrison, bassist and son of Jimmy Garrison, was also there) starting in 2018, during which time we discovered that we were not hearing all the channels upon our initial listen to the recordings, and what we thought was unusable was actually quite good and needed to be released.
The trio’s tour de force performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, their lost studio session from the Black Forest at MPS Studios in Germany (issued by Resonance as „Some Other Time“ in 2016), and their performance at VARA Studio in Hilversum, the Netherlands (also issued by Resonance as „Another Time“ in 2017), so they really hit their stride on these recordings in the comfortable and intimate setting of Ronnie Scott’s in London.
You likely noticed the startling illustration of Bill Evans on the cover of this album, and it’s a dream come true for me to say that this is from a one-of-a-kind lithograph by the legendary David Stone Martin, who is a personal hero to me and one of my biggest inspirations in the arts. The drawing was commissioned by my friend, the great photo archivist Cynthia Sesso of CTSIMAGES, and our illustrious designer John Sellards was able to brilliantly follow my vision of paying homage to the iconic DSM Verve/Clef/Norgran covers of the 1940s and ’50s. I also received the blessing and support of DSM’s son, Tony Martin, and his wife, Margot Farrington. There’s a whole stand alone essay in the booklet talking about DSM and this amazing piece of art.
As usual, this deluxe Resonance package comes replete with an extensive booklet featuring never-before-published photos of Bill, Eddie and Jack by photographer Francois Jacquenod, along with rare images by Chuck Stewart and Jan Persson. The main historical essay is by the esteemed British jazz author Brian Priestly, who actually witnessed these performances live in 1968 and wrote about the experience in Jazz Monthly. We captured a riveting conversation between Jack DeJohnette and Chick Corea, and we have a new interview I conducted with Eddie Gomez. Lastly, in 2017 I had the pleasure of interviewing comedy icon Chevy Chase in his home in upstate New York. We just made a short video at the time, but are now including an expanded version of the wide-ranging interview in this booklet.
The limited-edition 180g 2LP set was mastered by Bernie Grundman, cut at 33 1/3 RMP and pressed at RTI, with meticulous audio restoration performed at Resonance Records Studios by George Klabin and Fran Gala. (CD/Digital edition out Dec 4)--

Der Werbewert dieser Aktion ja (für eine Jazz Produktion) kaum ermesslich, jetzt sitzt halt auch Columbia am Futtertrog …. für die Jazzfans erfreulich, in der Sache eher ….

Valentin)aber schon ein kurioser Deal, CDs und LPs von Universal (die damit wahrscheinlich alles, was gedruckt ist, so verkaufen koennen, wie es jetzt aussieht ohne irgendwelche Informationen zu ergaenzen), Downloads und Streaming von Columbia… irgendwo hab ich die Tage ein Zitat von Danny Scher gelesen, er habe damals mit 17 gar nicht drueber nachgedacht, dass er eventuell gar nicht das Recht haben koennte, das Konzert mitzuschneiden (oder dem Hausmeister zu erlauben, es mitzuschneiden)… ich glaube das steht tatsaechlich in den Liner Notes, aber ich bin gerade nicht bei meiner CD… weise Worte

Horace Tapscott & Michael Session Live in Avignon, France 1989ich glaub das hatten wir hier noch nicht, tip von .org, erscheint am 25.9., ein neues Album von Horace Tapscott im Duett mit dem Saxophonisten Michael Session, einem Mitglied seines Arkestras… den Unterschied zwischen den beiden Vinyleditions hab ich nicht ganz kapiert (bis auf das Din A4 Blatt, dass der teureren beiliegt, die auch schon beinahe ausverkauft ist), was sie nach jetztigem Stand der Informationen gemein zu haben scheinen, ist, dass nur drei der sechs Tracks auf der LP Platz haben… weswegen ich mich wohl mit dem Download begnuegen werde…
