das sieht alles sehr gut aus, vor allem durch die originell zusammgestellten bands. jarrett ist prä-erschöpfungssyndrom, wobei ich ja nie verstehen werde, warum sowas dann so lange herumliegt. und vielleicht schafft eicher es ja irgendwann auch noch mal, das vijay iyer sextet aufzunehmen.

Diese Muthspiel-Combo war ja auf Tour … spielte auch in Zürich, war aber ausverkauft und eh etwas teuer, aber neugierig bin ich auch auf die CD, eher bzw. an sich von allen am meisten auf die Cyrille, wobei Teitelbaum am Synthesizer aber kein so schlagendes Kaufargument ist …

Die Reich-Box hole ich mir gelegentlich, da ich nur die vorhin erwähnte „Music for 18 Musicians“ habe und das durchaus Musik ist, die ich lieber auf CD hören mag.

Jarrett hatte ich noch nicht mitgekriegt – also mittlere 90er oder von wann sind die Aufnahmen? Da warte ich wohl mal ab, bis man dazu was lesen kann, in Sachen Solo-Jarrett hinke ich eh hinterher, aber das liegt auch daran, dass ich die Sachen nie höre, warum also noch mehr kaufen … ich greife viel eher zum Trio oder einem der beiden Quartette.

Over The Rainbow

A Multitude of Angels is a 4-CD set of recordings from a series of solo concerts in Italy in October 1996, documenting the conclusion of Keith Jarrett’s experiments with long-form improvisation in performances from Modena, Ferrara, Turin, and Genoa.

“These were the last concerts I played having no breaks within each set,” Keith Jarrett explains in his liner notes. “The arc of the music is characteristically comprehensive: jazz is ever present here, alongside my deep closeness with classical music (modern and ancient, Ives and Bach).”

It will apparently be released on November 4 in Germany and on November 18 in the US.

Die habe ich schon länger im Auge, aber „Drumming“ habe ich auf CD und LP und auch noch die Elektra-LPs „Early Music“ (u.a. mit „Piano Phase“) und „Sextet/Six Marimbas“.

ich habe TIN CAN ALLEY seit ewigkeiten auf vinyl und fand sie im vergleich auch nie so richtig toll, aber habe sie jetzt beim wiederhören neu schätzen gelernt. sie wirkt irgendwie ein bisschen besoffen – die kompositionen sind wieder ziemlich ambitioniert, die verhauen sie aber zum teil und haben trotzdem einen riesenspaß dabei, so höre ich das. vor allem „i know“, der closer mit den bekloppten publikumsamples, ist toll – wo dejohnette und warren plötzlich double time spielen und freeman und purcell kriegen es einfach nicht hin… überhaupt: warren und dejohnette haben einen total eigenen sound als rhythm section, wozu es aber auch die kristalline ecm-kulisse braucht.

andersen und peacock finde ich schon auch sehr toll, gerade durch die beiden pianisten. aber auf „folk songs“ ertrage ich nur „for turiya“, die hommage an alice c., das ist einfach eine ganz tolle haden-komposition.

vielen dank! kann ich – bis auf das vitous-album vielleicht – total gut nachvollziehen. selbst „to be continued“ ist ein sehr inspiriertes album, ich kann nur leider mit dem rypdal-sound einfach nichts anfangen. und weber und brüninghaus haben mich in ihrer eigenwilligkeit auch sehr überrascht. bei towner gibt es diesen tollen opener und new directions live funktioniert natürlich auch super. jazz-metheny mag ich immer noch lieber als den rock-metheny, auf 80/81 gibt’s halt beide, AMERICAN GARAGE finde ich dagegen sehr schlecht gealtert.

und meredith-monk-fans gibt’s hier keine? (das ist doch schon ziemlich schrecklich, oder?)
