Nick Cave – Darker with the Day“
As so with that, I thought I’d take a final walk
The tide of public opinion had started to abate
The neighbours, bless them, had turned out to be all talk
I could see their frightened faces peering at me trough the gateI was looking for an end to this, for some kind of closure
Time moved so rapidly, I had no hope of keeping track of it
I thought of my friends who had died of exposure
And I remembered other ones who had died from the lack of itAnd in my best shoes I started falling forward down the street
I stopped at a church and jostled trough the crowd
And love followed just behind me panting at my feet
As the steeple tore the stomach from a lonely little cloudInside I sat, seeking the presence of a God
I searched trough the pictures in a leather-bound book
I found a woolly lamb dozing in an issue of blood
And a gilled Jesus shivering on a fisherman’s hookBabe
It seems so long
Since you’ve been gone away
And I
Just got to say
That it grows darker with the dayBack on the street I saw a great big smiling sun
It was a Good day and an Evil day and all was bright and new
And it seemed to me that most destruction was beeing done
By those who could not choose between the twoAmateurs, dilettantes, hacks, cowboya, clones
The streets groan with little Caesars,
Napoleons and cunts
With their building blocks and their tiny plastic phones
Counting on their fingers, with crumbs down their frontsI passed by your garden, saw you with your flowers
The Magnolias, Camellias and Azaleas so sweet
And I stood there invisible in the panicking crowds
You looked so beatiful in the rising heatI smell smoke, see little fires bursting on the lawns
People carry on regardless, listening to their hands
Great cracks appear in the pavement,
the earth yawns
Bored and disgusted, to do us downBabe
It seems so long
Since you’ve been gone
And I
Just got to say
That it grows darker with the dayThese streets are frozen now, I come and go
Full of a longing for something I do not know
My father sits slumped in the deepening snow
As I search, in and out, above, about, belowBabe
It seems so long
Since you went away
And I
Just got to say
That it grows darker with the day--

Abba – The Day Before You Came
Must have left my house at eight, because I always do
My train, I’m certain, left the station just when it was due
I must have read the morning paper going into town
And having gotten through the editorial, no doubt I must have frowned
I must have made my desk around a quarter after nine
With letters to be read, and heaps of papers waiting to be signed
I must have gone to lunch at half past twelve or so
The usual place, the usual bunch
And still on top of this I’m pretty sure it must have rained
The day before you came
I must have lit my seventh cigarette at half past two
And at the time I never even noticed I was blue
I must have kept on dragging through the business of the day
Without really knowing anything, I hid a part of me away
At five I must have left, there’s no exception to the rule
A matter of routine, I’ve done it ever since I finished school
The train back home again
Undoubtedly I must have read the evening paper then
Oh yes, I’m sure my life was well within it’s usual frame
The day before you came
Must have opened my front door at eight o’clock or so
And stopped along the way to buy some Chinese food to go
I’m sure I had my dinner watching something on TV
There’s not, I think, a single episode of Dallas that I didn’t see
I must have gone to bed around a quarter after ten
I need a lot of sleep, and so I like to be in bed by then
I must have read a while
The latest one by Marilyn French or something in that style
It’s funny, but I had no sense of living without aim
The day before you came
And turning out the light
I must have yawned and cuddled up for yet another night
And rattling on the roof I must have heard the sound of rain
The day before you came--
Und latürnich Tom Waits mit dem Anfang von „Frank’s Wild Years“
„Well, Frank settled down in the valley
and he hung his wild years on a nail
that he drove through his wife’s forehead.“Mal wieder:
Bloß: Warum nur der Anfang?--
"Don't reach out for me," she said "Can't you see I'm drownin' too?"@ Niteowl:
Auch, was die Musik anbelangt.--

Bright Eyes – Let’s Not Shit Ourselves (To Love And Be Loved)
I’ve seen a child he’s caught
In the sad trap of gravity
He falls from the lowest
Branch of the apple treeAnd lands in the grass
And weeps for his dignity
Next time he will not aim so high
Yeah, next time neither will INow, a mother takes loans out
Sends her kids off to colleges
Her family’s reduced
To names on a shopping listWhile a coroner kneels
Beneath the great wooden crucifix
He knows there’s worse things than being
Alone. And so I’ve learned to retreat
At the first sign of danger
I mean, why wait around if
It’s just to surrenderAnd ambition I’ve found
Can lead only to failure
I do not read the reviews
No I am not singing for you
[Woo]Well I stood droppin’ a coin
Into the pit of a well
And I would throw my whole billfold
If I thought it would helpWith all these wishes I make
I should buy something real
At least a telephone
Call homeWell my teachers they built
This retaining wall of memory
All those multiple choices
I answered so quicklyAnd got my grades back
And forgot just as easily
But at least I got an ‘A’
And so I don’t have them to blameWell I should stop pointing fingers
Reserve my judgment
Of all those public action figures
And cowboy presidents
So loud behind the bull-horns
So proud they can’t admit
When they’ve made a mistakeWhile poison ink spews
From a speech writers pen
He knows he don’t have to say it
So it don’t bother himHonesty accuracy
It’s just popular opinion
And the approval ratings high
And so someone’s gonna dieWell ABC NBC CBS bullshit
They give us fact or fiction
I guess an even split
And each new act of war’s tonight’s entertainment
We’re still the pawns in their gameAs they take eye for an eye
Until no one can see
We must stumble blindly forward
Repeating historyWell I guess we all fit into that slogan
On your fast food marquee
Red blooded white skinned and oh the blues
Oh and the blues I got the blues that’s meWell I awoke in relief
My sheets and tubes were all tangled
Weak from whiskey and pills
In a Chicago hospitalAnd my father was there
In a chair by the window
Starin’ so far away
I tried talking just whispered
“So sorry so selfish”
He stopped me and said
“Child, I love you regardless
There nothing you could do
That would ever change this
I’m not angry, it happens
But you just can’t do it again”And so now I try to keep up
I been exchanging my currency
While a million objects
Pass though my periphery
Now I’m rubbin’ my eyes
‘Cause they’re starting to bother me
I been staring too long at the screenBut where was it when I first heard
That sweet sound of humility
It came to my ears in the
Goddamned loveliest melodyHow grateful I was then
To be part of the mystery
To love and to be loved
Lets just hope that is enough--

Never could stand that dog. :)

Wenn wir schon alles falsch machen, dann wenigstens richtig.Vor allem zusammen mit dem Lied mag ich auch sehr diesen Text:
Nirvana – Dumb
I’m not like them
But i can pretend
The sun has gone
But i have a light
The day is done
But i’m having fun
I think i’m dumbOr maybe just happy
Think i’m just happy
Think i’m just happy
Think i’m just happyMy heart is broken
But i have some glue
Help me inhale
And mend it with you
We’ll float around
And hang out on clouds
Then we’ll fall downAnd have a hangover
Have a hangover
Have a hangover
Have a hangoverSkin the sun
Fall asleep
Wish away
The soul is cheap
Lesson learned
Wish me luck
Soothe the burn
Wake me upI’m not like them
But i can pretend
The sun has gone
But i have a light
The day is done
But i’m having fun
I think i’m dumbOr maybe just happy
Think i’m just happy
Think i’m just happy
Think i’m just happyI think i’m dumb
I think i’m dumb…--
