Oder andersrum. New Waver mussten ja irgendwas hören, bevor es New Wave gab. Hat so ähnlich auch mal Mark Perry von Alternative TV formuliert: Was hätte er machen sollen in der ersten Hälfte der 1970er außer auch ELP zu hören? :)

Ich lese gerade Ernst Hofackers „Die 70er – Der Sound eines Jahrzehnts“. Da sind schon ein paar Anregungen drin

Ich habe mal das wundervolle Originalzitat von Mark Perry rausgesucht (WIRE, Aug 2015):

People can look back on ELP now and be critical, but there was nothing wishy-washy about them. To a 16 year old, live they were aggressive and really exciting. I’ve never been partisan in my interest in bands, and when you’re growing up in Deptford, it’s almost all the same to you: it’s exciting stuff that’s not made in Deptford! As a teenager I was very open, so I could honestly say that in the mid-70s my favourite bands were The Who, ELP, Little Feat, Roxy, Bowie. When you’re growing up in a working class area you want to escape somehow, and before punk came there were other ways to escape, like going to a gig on a Saturday night, buying the records and having your dad saying, ‘Turn that bloody racket down’.

Wieder ganz groß. Diese Stimmung, diese eigentümliche Färbung, die gehört ganz allein Joy Division. Unkopierbar.
