Hey man, why don't we make a tune... just playin' the melody, not play the solos...Bin ja mit meinem (aktuell unterbrochenen) Lincoln-Hören noch nicht in den 90ern angekommen, aber diesen Song finde ich wahnsinnig toll!
Mein eigener vierter überzähliger Song war die Live-Version (aus dem Keystone Korner, 1980) von Lincolns „Throw It Away“. Es gibt so viele tolle Aufnahmen von ihr … inzwischen kann ich es gar nicht mehr wirklich fassen, dass ich mit ihrem Gesang bis vor Kurzem meistens nicht viel anfangen konnte.

schnief schnief di schneuffriedrichElla klingt in meinen Ohren so selbst selbstverständlich und leicht, so unangestrengt und perfekt – aber ich denke, dass das keineswegs so selbstverständlich und leicht ist. Und was für eine tolle, gelassen und souverän wirkende Spontanität!
Sie war nach allem, was man hört, zeitlebens ein Arbeitstier. Korrekt, höflich, ohne Nerven für irgendwas ausserhalb der Arbeit … ein anständiges Zimmer im Hotel, was ordentliches zu essen und gute Bedingungen auf der Bühne, und dann lieferte sie.
