Ja, aber nicht besonders gut – ich habe 25 Trips ganz gern gehört, aber nicht so gern, dass ich es unbedingt haben wollte. Ich halte Sierra Hull für eine großartige Musikerin, aber in meiner Plattensammlung ist sie bisher dennoch nur als sidewoman vertreten. Das neue Album ist im ganzen eine ruhige, nachdenkliche Angelegenheit, stilistisch schwer einzuordnen (Singer-Songwriter, Folk, Country, Bluegrass – von allem etwas, aber es klingt nicht nach einem Gemischtwarenladen). Wenn man ein Gefühl für die Bandbreite bekommen möchte, vergleiche man einmal das instrumentale „The Last Minute„, ein mehr oder weniger live eingespieltes Newgrass-Stück, mit dem Song „Escape„, einer atmosphärischen Studio-Konstruktion mit elektrischen Instrumenten und Schlagzeug. Damit hat man auch gleich zwei der Höhepunkte des Albums gehört.

Drei der 13 Tracks könnte man unter Progressive Bluegrass oder Newgrass verbuchen (da haben immerhin Stuart Duncan und Bryan Sutton zusammen mit Sierra Hull und Justin Moses, ihrem Ehemann, live im Studio gespielt); aber insgesamt ist es definitiv auch keine Bluegrass-Platte.

Nein, da bin ich weggeblieben. Habe reingehört, aber ich muss gestehen, dass sich für mich bei Steve Earle ein gewisses Sättigungsgefühl eingestellt hat. Ich habe exakt ein Dutzend Alben von ihm, die ich allesamt für überdurchschnittlich halte, teils auch mehr als das. Aber die letzten Alben habe ich vier bis fünf Mal gehört und dann standen sie doch eher nur noch im Regal. Bietet das neue Album denn etwas für Earle Außergewöhnliches?
