Ja, diese Frau wusste, wovon sie sang. Sie hatte trotz des Ruhms kein wirklich schönes Leben. Vielleicht hat sie gerade deshalb diese unglaubliche Tiefe in ihrer Stimme und auch diesen großartigen Texte. Ich hatte das große Glück, sie seinerzeit auf dem Jazzfestival in New Orleans zu sehen und zu hören. Das werde ich nie vergessen – 20000 Leute vor der Bühne sangen mit ihr „Peace of my Heart“
