Erste Wahl bei Earland ist wohl „Black Talk“ (Ende 1969 auch für Prestige aufgenommen) – und wenn es auch spaciger sein darf „Leaving the Planet“ von 1974 mit Freddie Hubbard und Joe Henderson.

Edit : Virgil Jones (!!) ….Ich glaub noch vor Blue Mitchell mein liebster Trompetensolist im Orgeljazz! Auch ein total unterschätzter Mann.

„Black Drops“ ist wohl eine Art second helping bzw. ein Versuch, anzuknüpfen an den Erfolg … und auch ganz gut, aber insgesamt nicht auf derselben Höhe (aber heute wegen Heath halt das Album, aus dem ich mich bedienen wollte, auf „Black Talk“ ist Houston Person zu hören, den ich alles in allem deutlich langweiliger finde, aber in guten Momenten und im richtigen Setting liefert er).
