wasGavin Bryars scheint ein sehr fleißiger Musiker zu sein. Die Liste der Veröffentlichungen ist ja fast unendlich!
Ich hab da null Überblick … aber die 1998er Reunion des Joseph Holbrooke Trio („The Moat Recordings“, Tzadik, 2 CD) ist schon ziemlich super. Da kehrt er nochmal zu seinen Wurzeln als Free-Improv-Basser zurück, im Trio mit Derek Bailey (g) und Tony Oxley (d).
Ich kannte ihn bis heute überhaupt nicht. Was ich aber jetzt bislang zu hören bekam, gefällt mir!
Der Rest dieser CD (ein Cello-Konzert für Julian Lloyd Webber und ein Werk für Schlagzeugensemble) ist jedenfalls auch ansprechend. Aber ohne Haden wäre ich da nicht draufgekommen.

Bitte nicht als respektlos lesen: Ich auch nicht. Auch @was. Mit Bryars konnte ich nicht viel anfangen. Mir ist das zu große Fläche über zu wenig Fläche.
