Ich habs auch nicht erkannt. Für mich kam der Song richtig gut.

von: The Look of Love (Verve, CD, 2001)Diana Krall vermochte Ogerman nach zwanzigjähriger Pause, in der er sich ganz dem Komponieren verschrieben hat, wieder ins Studio zu locken. Darüber, ob sich der Aufwand gelohnt, mag man unterschiedlicher Ansicht sein. Mir ist das damals kühl aufgenommene Album über die Jahre recht lieb geworden und den Titeltrack – erneut von Burt Bacharach – mag ich besonders gerne. Krall wird von einer guten Rhythmusgruppe begleitet, Ogerman bettet ihren Gesang wie auch ihr Klavierspiel perfekt ein. Das ganze grenzt an Easy Listening, ist aber schon ziemlich gut gemacht.

Sein „Bumpin’ on Sunset“ entwickelt einen nahezu tranceartigen Groove. Ogermans sparsames Streicher-Flirren, der hartnäckige Conga-Beat, die harmonische Offenheit in Abwesenheit eines Pianos … Montgomery lässt sich sehr viel Zeit bei seinem Solo, setzt kleinste Fragmente zusammen zu einem beeindruckenden Ganzen.

Wenn man das Original (?) von The LOL von Dusty Springfield im geistigen Ohr hat, hängt die Latte natürlich ganz schön hoch.
