von: Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim (Reprise, 1967; CD: Sinatra/Jobim: The Complete Reprise Recoridngs, Universal, 2010)Als Jobim 1967 auf Frank Sinatra traf, konnte kein anderer als Claus Ogerman für die Arrangements zeichnen (zwei Jahre später folgte eine zweite Session mit Eumir Deodato). Mit „The Girl from Ipanema“ öffnet das bezaubernde Album, dem ersten von vier Stücken, bei denen Jobim auch Backing Vocals beiträgt. Sinatra musste sich wohl an die leise Musik erst einmal gewöhnen, Jobim/Ogerman laufen seiner üblichen Grossspurigkeit jedenfalls völlig entgegen – doch es gab wohl kaum was, was der Sänger Sinatra nicht konnte, so er denn wollte.

von: Antonio Carlos Jobim (Elenco, 1964; CD: Universal Music Brasil, 2004)Und weil dieser Song so toll ist, hören wir gleich noch die instrumentale Version von Jobims 1964er-Debut. Wie Ogerman das völlig unvirtuose, tatsächlich leicht verstimmt wirkende Klavier Jobims orchestral einbettet, ist einmal mehr grosse Klasse – wie bei Gilberto spielt es gar keine Rolle, was der Protagonist kann oder eben nicht kann: Ogerman sorgt dafür, dass es phantastisch klingt.

Toll wie Sinatra seinen Gesang der feinen Musik anpasst, dazu Ogermans etwas unheimliche Streicher … und dann wieder Jobim, der diesmal in einen kleinen Dialog mit Sinatra tritt.
