Hier Losin zu Amsterdam, dem letzten Konzert der Tour, mit dem ganzen Schedule:
This recording was made during a midnight performance at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, after the Quintet had performed an early evening concert at the Kurhaus in Scheveningen, near The Hague. It was made for promoter Louis Van Rees’s private archive and is now owned by the Dutch Jazz Archive. I’m grateful to Arne Wolfswinkel for help with this session.
From March 21 through April 10, the Davis Quintet toured Europe, along with Oscar Peterson and the Stan Getz and their groups, under the auspices of Norman Granz’s „Jazz at the Philharmonic.“ Davis had hired vibraphonist Buddy Montgomery for the tour but at the last minute Montgomery bowed out. Surprisingly few recordings from this tour have surfaced. The itinerary was as follows:
