von: Boom-Jackie-Boom-Chick (Vocalion, 1964; CD: Universal Japan, 2007Die Ellington-Band tourte von Januar bis März 1963 durch Europa, flog zunächst nach London, spielte Konzerte in Dänemark, Schweden, Österreich und Italien, in Paris entstanden einige Aufnahmen, u.a. das von Duke Ellington produzierte «Duke Ellington Presents the Dollar Brand Trio». Dollar Brand (der sich später Abdullah Ibrahim nennen sollte) war damals in Zürich basiert. Dass das Album von Gonsalves mit einer erstklassigen UK-Rhythmusgruppe aber in der Schweiz entstanden sei, wie die Liner Notes behaupten, ist ziemlich sicher Unsinn. Simon Spillett, eine in Sachen UK Modern Jazz verlässliche Quelle, kommentierte in einem Blog, dass die Session in den Londoner Landsdowne Studios stattfanden. Gonsalves verbrachte wohl die freien Tage vor der Rückreise in London bei seinem Freund Jackie Sharpe
