Das Album besteht aus Songs, die von Riff-Heavy Rock’n’Roll bis hin zu akustisch angetriebenen Americana-Songs reichen, die an Ryan Adams ‚Cold Roses‘ erinnern. Der Titeltrack des Albums, ‚Black Sheep‘, spricht von den Kämpfen, die Welt zu navigieren, während du das tust, was du liebst, obwohl manche das als unkonventionelle Lebensentscheidungen betrachten. Ein weiterer Höhepunkt der Platte, ‚Amelia‘, beklagt das Gefühl von Verlust und die Schwierigkeit, endlich die Entscheidung zu treffen, weiterzumachen und von vorn zu beginnen. (Promo Text)
