Software ist die ultimative Bürokratie.nicht_vom_forumIst Nichols eigentlich einer der Musiker, der in Europa mehr geschätzt wird als in den USA oder ist das gerade eine dramaturgische Häufung?
Letzteres ist hier der Fall, bei ersterem bin ich nicht sicher, vermutlich ist das vergleichbar. Rudd, Neidlinger, Lacy sind ja alles US-Amerikaner, das Herbie Nichols Project auch. Aber das kann sein, dass es den Umweg über Europa brauchte, wo Lacy damals ja auch domiziliert war – er kehrte ja erst zum Sterben nach NY zurück.

Das sind halt irgendwie dadaistische Kubisten, die Niederländer; von der freien Impro zu einer Art Musique Concrète, die nur so tut als sei sie Jazz – oder so ähnlich
Die kommen dann halt auch auf die Idee, einen Stuhl so zu zersägen und neu zusammenzusetzen, dass daraus ein Kamel wird.

[1] d. h. öfter mal hier im Konzert und davor bzw. danachIch hab das ICP Orchestra gehört, als Mengelberg noch spielte (danach folgten ein paar Jahre der Krankheit, bis er schliesslich starb), die Besetzung müsste gewesen sein: Thomas Heberer, Wolter Wierbos, Michael Moore, Ab Baars, Tobias Delius, Misha Mengelberg, Mary Oliver, Tristan Honsinger, Ernst Glerum, Han Bennink.
Tobias Delius wirst Du auch kennen? Den (mehrfach) und Michael Moore (mit Jewels and Binoculars, der wunderbaren Dylan-Cover-Band) hörte ich jedenfalls auch in anderen Kontexten, Bennink ebenfalls (mit Brötzmann). Aber ICP ist halt nur, wenn die alle dabei sind (oder andere vor ihnen, klar, aber das habe ich auch nicht mehr erlebt).
