Meine Mutter musste 75 werden, bevor sie das Jazz-Hören für sich entdeckte…

Klasse, ich hörte erst jetzt durch eine Bekannte, deren Mutter in eine betreute Wohnanlage umzog, dass es dort einen  älteren Herren gäbe, der ausschließlich Jazz höre und das durchaus sehr häufig.

pheebeeDas Piano fliesst hier locker wie ein klarer Gebirgsbach.

Das war ja jetzt gerade einmal nicht Weston selbst, aber ja, auch ein feines Solo (von Gildo Mahones).

Ja, ich weiß, The Ike Isaacs Trio, aber einfach schön, klar, leicht und locker.
Fast ein bisschen wie ein Musicalstück kam es mir vor.

Das passt schon, ja … wobei die besten Sachen von LH&R (für mich wohl das Debut-Album und dann das mit Joe Williams – beide der Musik von Count Basie gewidmet und v.a. das Debut in damals noch völlig irrem Overdub-Verfahren eingespielt) mehr Jazz als Show sind. Aber Annie Ross mit ihrer unfassbaren Stimme kommt schon eher von der Show-Bühne als aus dem engen, damals noch verrauchten Jazzclub.
