Was das hier werden soll:

Ich habe vor, nach und nach für jedes der letzten Jahre (bis ca. Anfang der 90er) eine Liste der besten Alben zu veröffentlichen. Ich hoffe, den einen oder anderen Listenjunkie dazu anregen zu können, es mir gleich zu tun. Das Jahr 2003 lasse ich erst mal aus, da dort für eine Beurteilung wohl noch ein gewisser Abstand fehlt. Außerdem gibt es für dieses Jahr ja noch einen häufig frequentierten Thread.

Wer weiter zurückgehen möchte - bis in die 80er, 70er, 60er oder gar 50er -, ist herzlich dazu eingeladen, weitere Threads zu eröffnen. Mangels Kompetenz werde ich mich dort aber wohl meist zurückhalten und nur hier und da vielleicht mal eine Liste veröffentlichen.

Ab 99 habe ich die Listen noch so halbwegs im Kopf, es sei denn, ich habe die Platten erst später erstanden. Welche Alben aus 1998 weiss ich irgendwie überhaupt nicht.

Na nicht immer wenn man ein Album nicht versteht oder es aus irgendeinem Grund nicht mag heisst das Spiel „Verkopfte Kritiker und beeinflussbare Mitläufer...
Bei 13 schon gar nicht. Wird teilweise wirklich überbewertet aber ist zumindest eine ganz und gar geile Platte.

Versteh ich auch nicht - klarer Widerspruch in der Aussage.

Zusammenfassend würde ich sagen: Zuviel strukturierter Lärm von Coxon, zuwenig Song von Albarn. Allein Tender verdient *****, der Rest ist weit von dem entfernt, was Blur mal gut gemacht hat.

Na na ich meine bloss ich kenne da Kollegen meiner Freundin. Die lesen den ME sind Studenten und so.. :rolleyes: Die reden wenns um 13 geht immer vom besten ALbum aller Zeiten, wie mega viele neue Sachen blur da eingebaut haben u.s.w.
Ich sehe 13 als "künstlerisch" nicht ganz soooo wertvoll. Mir gefällt das ALbum aber. Wenn ich igendwo z.B. Bugman höre werd ich dazu sicher immer abgehen wie ne Rakete...

Da ich in Deiner Liste meine persönliche Nr. 2-5 finde (Wilco, Aimee Mann, Chuck Prophet, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy) riskiere ich es mal, Dir meine Nr. 1 des Jahres 1999 ans Herz zu legen. Mark Lanegan - I'll take care of you. Würde sich wundervoll in Deine Liste einfügen. Kennst Du Werke von Lanegan?
Nein, bisher nur die diesjährige Kollaboration mit Isobel Campbell, die aber wohl, wenn ich das richtig verstanden habe, mit seinen Solo-Sachen nicht wirklich viel zu tun hat? Ist "I'll Take Care Of You" für dich denn gleichzeitig auch sein bestes Album? Und als Einstieg geeignet?

"I'll take care of you" war nach Lanegan's Werken mit den Screaming Trees mein Einstieg in sein Solo-Schaffen und bleibt bis heute das absolute Highlight. Groß sind auch die "Field songs" von 2001. Von den früheren Alben ist zu empfehlen "Scraps at midnight", während ich "Whiskey for the holy ghost" noch nicht kenne.

Später ging Lanegan dann Richtung Blues und Rock mit den Alben "Here comes the weird chill" und "Bubblegum". Es blieb zwar alles sehr rudimentär und die Stimme konnte auch weiterhin überzeugen, aber von wesentlich größerer Intensität und Inbrunst zeugen "I'll take care of you" und "Field songs" und sind somit auch der ideale Einstieg i.m.o. Und vergiß das Duett mit Isobell Campbell. Ein Fehltritt in meinen Ohren.

´99 war für mich wie steady Weihnachten. Zu der Zeit hab ich fast ausschliesslich HipHop gehört, was angesichts der Qualität was in dem Jahr rausging auch kein Wunder ist. Deshalb besteht meine Liste auch nur aus Rapmusik. Alles andere fand ich damals blöd. Ausser "You´ve come a long way baby". Aber dass find ich jetzt zu blöd. Travis gefällt mir inzwischen, aber bis es "The Man Who" in die ersten 15 schafft dürften schon noch 1 bis 2 Jahre vergehen.

:bier: War in der Tat DAS Hip Hop Jahr schlechthin. 1999/2000 war auch die Hochphase des Rawkus Labels, da kam wirklich jeden zweiten Monat nen Klassiker auf den Markt (Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, Reflection Eternal).

Sehr schöne Liste im Übrigen, da merk ich erst, was ich alles in meiner vergessen hab'.

An der Grenze zum Kitsch gemachter Schinken wie "Oceanborn" vor "I see a dakness" zu platzieren, der großartigen "Industrial silence" gegenüber ganz formidablen, aber keinesfalls außergewöhnlichen Werken wie "Stupid dream" und "Judgment" nicht den Vorzug zu geben und schlussendlich das neben "Oceanborn" schwächste dieser Werke auf Platz 1 zu heben, ist erklärungswürdig, doc! Und wo ist "Amsterdam stranded" eigentlich stehen geblieben?

Was "Californication" zu so hohen Platzierungen berechtigt, würde mich aber dennoch interessieren. "By the way" war ein ausgezeichnetes Werk, im Gegensatz dazu höre ich beim Nachfolger zu weiten Teilen eher mittelmäßiges Füllmaterial.

@Tom: Deine 11 ist meine 1 (auch wenn der Titel falsch ist). :-)

Und: Gerade die "Oceanborn" hat stark verloren, "Billy" sooo hoch wie nie. Madrugada eben nicht mehr so hoch wie vor 9 Jahren noch...

Denk ich mir, war auch nicht bös' gemeint. Vielleicht willst Du ja mal die Wertungen unten editieren, würde mich interessieren (die Interpreten vor die Alben wäre auch fein, erleichtert das Lesen deutlich). :-)

Ich hab sie in 98 gelistet.Danke für den Hinweis. Werde ich dann auch so machen. Die Schwierigkeit ist die, dass öfter die dt. Labels "Glitterhouse" als auch hier "Blue Rose" ganz schlechte oder keine Jahresangaben machen. Ich finde im konkreten Beispiel im Booklet nur die Aufnahmezeit vom 2.-17. März 1998.

In den 70-80er Jahrgängen finden sich relativ viele Gemeinsamkeiten, aber es scheint von da an immer weiter auseinander zu driften. Allerdings überzeugt mich die Erklärung, dass Kanonisierung Zeit braucht, nicht, denn das würde bedeuten, wir würden uns wieder annähern; ich glaube vielmehr, die Geschmäcker und Vorlieben prägen sich in ihrer Verschiedenheit stärker aus.

Der Release über ihre neue Plattenfirma lief dann wohl in 2000 an.Alles richtig. Inzwischen listet sie selbst es aber als 2000er Release auf ihrer Homepage. Ist wahrscheinlich wieder so ein Fall, wo wir keinen absoluten Konsens finden werden. Ich würde es aber in 1999 lassen, wenn das hier mehrheitlich bisher so gemacht wurde.

Das kann sein. Ich hatte mir gemerkt, dass 1999 ein Teil des Materials zuerst auf dem Magnolia (http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/various_artists_f2/magnolia/)-Soundtrack erschien, und ihr Album dann hinterherkam. In der Reihenfolge habe ich jedenfalls gekauft. :-)

Nebenbei bemerkt: 25.000 Stück über die eigene Website bereits 1999 wäre zu einem frühen Zeitpunkt des Internethandels sehr viel.

Mehr Alben zum Jahr 1999 habe ich leider nicht. Alle 4 Alben sind auf dem fast gleichen Niveau, würde allen **** geben.
